OK that test kicked my butt!!!! I really worked hard on it too and I still bombed it!!!!!! I was so excited about how good I thought I did and still. . . . . *cries* today has been a really bad day for me, this is the second test I thought I did well on and bombed!!
I worked on this test with a friend, and we re-wrote our answers several times before we decided that it was the right one. I don't know what to do anymore. . . . . I am tired, so tired of working my butt off and getting no results, anyone else feel this way?
I want to help children so bad, I want to be a light for them when there seems to be only darkness, I used to struggle a lot when I was younger and I had this amazing teacher who wanted to help me improve, she schedule study sessions with me, and really worked with me to help me learn; and that is what I wanted to do for the children I taught. But now i don't know, my faith in myself is diminishing slowly!! I need a boost of some sort! Does anyone remember what Mrs. White said about how to set up a conference with her, I need to discuss my grade?
Thanks for just listening to me be down guys, some times I just need to write my feelings down!! Sorry to have played pity party, I will we OK!! See you all in class tonight!
Peace, love, and chicken grease LOL :)

Amanda, I would be happy to sit down with you over coffee or a coke and talk with you about each of your questions.
ReplyDeleteMore importantly than the questions/content we need to talk about how to look at the questions, what they are asking and how to answer the questions. We can discuss information processing, understanding content and explaining it.
Too many schools have taught kids to "play school" and "play tests." This test is about real life and how to apply what you know in REAL situations. That is what the prepared handout, the test format and my discussion in class about the test was designed to do - this is not a hoop to jump through to give you a grade. It is designed to prepare you for real life.
I am more than willing to discuss this with you in depth. We'll talk about it in class - you're welcome to talk to me before or after class.
Amanda,
ReplyDeleteKeep your head up!! I had a similar time last week (four test and a paper due kind of pushed me to my limit!!). Talk to Mrs. White. I'm sure that she can clear things up for you. We have lots of opportunities for more points, so don't lose confidence in yourself because of one lousy grade. You can bring it up!!! Keep a smile on your face!! You'll get through it!!!! =]
Let me know if you want to vent!! I'm a good listener!! =]
I had five test last week :(...I know where your coming from! I normally do bad on my first test in my classes too. I don't know my grade for this test yet, but every teacher is different, once you know how they grade and what they expect you will do better!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Mrs. White in the fact that alot of teachers "play school" and want you to know the book inside and out. I have a teacher like that right now. I truly do not get alot out of class, I learn more studying on my own. Compared to Mrs. White's class where we learn more in class, its really hard when your class expect different things. I definately think that relating the questions to real life situations is better and will help us the most in the long run.
i think everyone feels like this at some point in life. whether it be school related or just life. but keep your head up. its people like you that show great passion for helping students that go on to become great teachers.
ReplyDeleteAmanda, I totally understand where you are coming from! Your just going through a stressful time right now. Everything will be okay, just keep pushing yourself. It was the first test and you didn't know what to expect. Now you do, so you will probably do better the next time!
ReplyDeleteAmanda,
ReplyDeleteThis test was a hard one but the main thing is the experience. You are measured in life not by your success but instead how you respond to failure. I left college after my football career ended because of an injury. I thought that the only reason I was there was to play football and at the time that was right. It took me 3 years of life experiences to figure out what i wanted to do. Now I've returned to school with the idea of learning and understanding the information instead of trying to just get through. Sometimes things may seem to be at there worst and then the light pops on and you understand better than ever. Keep your head up and you'll be fine.
Mrs. White's very open and easy to talk to! I'm sure you can work something out with her! The test was not easy by any means, but it's a part of college, you know?
ReplyDeleteAmanda!!!!!!
ReplyDeletewe will just have to work extra hard next time girl. I will work with you and tell you how I am going to explain the answer. This next test we are going to ACE!!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYONE YOU GUYS REALLY LIFTED MY SPIRITS!!! you guys were right I did talk to Mrs. White and everything will be fine, I think I just got hit with so many things at once that it over-welmed me, but you guys are awesome, thanks so much for being there :)
