CATS Testing

Mrs. White,

My mom is running a Christian school that a few of her friends and her started about 2 years ago at my church. They have several children with special needs and need a lot of extra help when they do CATS testing. They are a private school and teachers do not have to be credited but they only take teachers who are. My mom was asking me to look up and see if I could help out during that time or not since we will already be out of school. I cant find any information on it though, so i was wondering if you know anything or know of somewhere I could find something.

Thanks!

  1. What type of information are you wanting? Are you wanting actual TESTING information? There are "released items" that you can get. Questions that have been used in the past that are no longer being used.

As I mentioned in class two weeks ago the state testing system is going through major modification over the next three years.

However, you can access materials at the state website. I'd be happy to answer any questions you have about these:

  2. What I was wondering was if there are any rules about who can give the test to the students. Could I help give the test to the children who need special help?

  3. An individual who provides any accommodation to a student with disabilities on any component of the statewide assessment shall be trained in his/her role and responsibilities and abide by confidentiality laws (KRS 160.700 et seq); this Administration Code, and the conditions under which each student uses the accommodations as described in the student's IEP, 504 Plan, or Program Services Plan (PSP).

  4. I want to remind ALL STUDENTS . . .

GIVING the statewide assessment is a MAJOR task. This is not something just ANYONE can do. There are MANY regulations relative to this.

At the link above there is Review and training on the Administration Code for Kentucky's Educational Assessment Program, Classroom Materials, Review and training for the Inclusion of Special Populations, Prompting and Cueing Activity, and Allegations Activity
