Language Analysis
I recorded my nephew today for an hour and a half so I could make sure to get the correct amount of utterances. I have to admit that this transcribing is very difficult! It's so time consuming and tiring even though I'm not doing much-LOL. I think I've transcribed 24 minutes of what I recorded. I may not have to type it all because he talked a lot! I just wanted to see if anyone else has started on this and what you all think about it. Hope you're having a great spring break. See ya next week.

I have already completed my transcription. It did take a long time to do it though. I had to have my daughter help me translate part of the child's utterances. It helps to have other people in the room when you are listening to the recording!!!
ReplyDeleteyea, I haven't started on the project as of yet, but all of these qualities should help me in completing my transcription.
ReplyDeleteyea, I am about to start mine. I started to think about how long it will take and I have a feeling it is going to take a really really long time.
ReplyDeleteI recorded my nephew for an hour 1/2 but I only typed 40 minutes of the recording. When I went back to count, he had over 200 utterances! I'm glad that I didn't have to type the whole thing! Now I can choose a section to use for the actual analysis.
ReplyDeleteI haven't started mine yet..I just now found a child to do mine with..So I think I am going to try to get my recording done this weekend!
ReplyDeleteI recorded a lot, I was worried that I would not have enough and then have to go back. I know this child but I am actually good friends with her babysitter so I think I am going to ask her to help me transcribe because I am unsure of several words. It's hard when You're not use to being around the child. I think I've got enought recorded for three projects haha better safe than sorry..
ReplyDeleteI have recorded mine but I haven't started transcribing it yet...something I do not look forward to. Anyway, I video taped two brothers, one is 4 and his language skills are great and he talks a lot, the other is 3 and he is harder to understand and doesn't talk as much. I'm unsure about who to use for the analysis. I think that the older brother would be easier, but there would be less to say about his language skills, other then them being really strong. The younger brother would be harder to transcribe but I think there would be more to say when it comes to analyzing the thing. I guess I'll have to transcribe for both of them. Just wondering if there were any suggestions!
