Language Project

Hey everyone, I am working on my language project, trying to get the transcription part of it finished. I was looking over the link on BB that gave instructions for the language sample. It said to write down word for word, I was wanting to see if we needed to write down utterances as well. I thought we had discussed that in class but it wasn't on the paper. Thanks

  1. Yes, you will transcribe/type EXACTLY - word for word what the child said and what the communication/conversation partners said.

You will count UTTERANCES and must have 100 for the sample. If you are unclear of HOW to do this . . . I'm going to bow out and let the other students demonstrate their understanding and share with you how they have been doing this.

  2. I have transcribed mine already and I wrote in the utterances as I went. I found this easier so I wouldn't have to go back and watch the whole video over again to figure out where he paused. Some of where my utterances end and begin seem sort of random but he actually would pause for a few seconds and would seem to be on a different train of thought. I was concerned about this at first but where one utterance ended and another began seemed pretty natural.
