Language Transcription Question

The little boy I am doing my language project on sang a song (grease lighting) along with the soundtrack while I was recording him. I did not include this as part of his speech because I felt like it didn't really represent his speech so much as his ability to memorize lyrics and sing along. Another problem is that he really couldn't sing it. He would just hum along and when he got to a part he knew and could say he would sing it. It was also hard to hear these parts because the music was louder than he was. I was just wondering if I need to include what he sang or not, and how I would go about doing that.

  1. When you get to a part of the exchange/conversation/video tape you do not wish to include simply explain what you are eliminating.

    Examples:

(Johnny begins singing the song, Greased Lightning. He hums most of the song until he gets to a part he knows. He then sings along.)

(Mary turns on her CD player and begins to sing songs with the CD)

(Bobby asks me to read a book to him. I read the book. After I finish reading the book we start talking about the story - transcription picks up with our discussion)
