Hey guys!! My Mom emailed me this website to watch today. I thought I would share it with you all because I liked it so much. It made me cry . . . If you know me, you know it doesn't take a lot. Anyway, my Dad is/has been a basketball coach for the past 25 years and with an uncle with cerebral palsy and a cousin with CMV, these stories always hit close to home and touch my heart!! Let me know what you think! It kind of inspired me!! =]

I LOVE it!! As a parent it is sometimes hard to know how to dream for your child, especially when they have a disability....it is stories like these that really bring all the possibilities to light!! I'm glad you shared!
ReplyDeleteI encourage you to look at EVERY child in your class as a JASON! Know they can coach a basketball team, bake bread, do whatever they want. They each bring their own unique gifts to our classrooms. It is our job to enable them, to empower them, to TEACH them to discover them and use them!
ReplyDeleteYou are so right Cathy! Behind each of these amazing boy's stories was a teacher, a peer, a friend...someone who BELIEVED in them!! Inclusion and acceptance...Opportunities for ALL to shine!
ReplyDeleteI didn't get to see this video. The website said it had expired. But I can guess that it's impact was great. Yesterday my friend told me about a guy that she went and watched speak at a church on Saturday. She said he was born with no limbs and his words were the most inspiring thing she had ever experienced. I think there is something about the way the "disabled" or the "handicapped" over come and conquer life that really allow the rest of us to push forward and find victory. I think it's amazing the power they often have to make other people better. It reminds me of when God said that he uses the weak things to shame the strong.
